Happy February, all. Hope you had a good Groundhog’s Day since that’s about all the beastly month of February has to offer. Except Valentines Day and screw that day and all you happy couples out there. I get to be bitter this year and I’m taking full advantage of it. I hate love! Hallmark invented this bullshit so their cardboard mines would show a profit! Flower-farming contributes man-made climate change and chocolate uses slave labor!

All right, all right, I’m done. Sorry. And I won’t do any more of that.

I’m struggling with this update because, on the one hand, I’m still on the “weekly status updates until morale improves” approach to managing myself and, inherent in that is not promising that I’m working on anything beyond the very next priority my list of catch-up goals. But, on the other hand, this is also a monthly update and I’m supposed to talk about my grand plans and about how excited I am and make huge promises and set impossible standards to increase the chance I will crash, burn, and spiral into self-loathing. And I do love making huge promises and hating myself. Those are my two favorite things.

Anyway… my therapist and my secret board of super-supporters holding me accountable — except when I yell at them and start biting — will probably sternly warn me to err on the side of not promising more than the next thing.

Personal Stuff

My personal health and well-being are still on a pretty severe up-and-down. I’m going through some more follow-up cardiology crap this month and trying to get my various lifestyle and mental health habits back on track. It’s all slow going and difficult, but it’s trending upward and I have you all to thank for cheering me on. Thank you.

Heart-health-wise, there’s unresolved issues still but I don’t seem to be in danger of immediate coronary explosion. I’ll know more in a few weeks. Hopefully.

Goals and Progress

As a reminder, my current slate of Catch-Up Benchmarks looks thus…

• I must be publishing four Features per month.
• I must be publishing one Feature per week on Wednesday of that week.
• I must record a Proofreadaloud for each Feature for my supporters for simultaneous release with the Feature.
• I must have published the first True Campaign Managery lesson, thereby launching that series.
• I must have published the first Angry Hack, thereby launching that series.
• I must be publishing one Club Slapdash Post for my Frienemy-tier supporters per week on Friday of that week.

The first is crossed off because I’m technically current on that. As of January 31, I published four Features in January. They weren’t all what I wanted.

If you’re reading a new Feature on Wednesday, February 7, I’ll be able to tick off the next one. And because that article is in progress and it is the first True Campaign Managery lesson, I’ll knock out two benchmarks.

The trouble is, while my supporters will be listening to a Proofreadaloud of that article, it likely won’t be published on the same day as the Feature. I have some hospital appointments this week that are pushing the article release right to the wire. But I will be ticking off that article benchmark next week.

But all of this does mean that I am on target to move past this last very soon. Definitely by the end of February. But, you know, I can’t promise that or else certain people will beat me up.

Mostly Monthly Live Chat

February’s Mostly Monthly Live Chat for Angry supporters with Discord access is scheduled for Monday, February 12 at 8:00 PM EST.

Upcoming Changes (for Supporters)

I have a few minor changes I’m working on in the background that will affect only Angry supporters. These include a reorganization of the Angry Discord server and an update of the policies and rules thereunto pertaining, a change in how I post Early Access content, and a change in how I link to Proofreadaloud recordings. The last two changes won’t be particularly visible and won’t change the experience for most supporters, but they will allow supporters to completely ignore the crowdfunding platforms — SubscribeStar and Patreon — and just get all content updates here at TheAngryGM.com by bookmarking a single address. The Discord reorganization will obviously be visible, but it probably won’t change much either.

As I make these changes, I will announce them in the Discord Server and on Patreon and SubscribeStar. So keep an eye out for them in the weeks to come.
