You said that your ranty style shocks readers into thinking. I have a different perspective on this: I personally find size of your articles, and not rants, allowing me to properly think about what you write.
Blog posts these days are short and aim to present information as fast and as easy as possible. While it helps to share information, they are too short to properly switch context from what you were thinking about before you starting reading.
I think your Long, Rambling Introductions™ help by giving time to properly switch context and put me in a proper context.
