Checking In

July 22, 2020

So…

Some of you noticed there was no article last week. And some of you who hang out in my Discord server – which you can gain access to by supporting this site on Patreon – noticed that I sort of vanished for a week and a half or so. And some of you who have regular contact with me had some trouble getting in touch with me. And some of you even reached out to me asking me if I was dead.

Well, I wasn’t dead. I’m not dead. I was sidelined by a personal, medical issue while, at the same time, The Tiny GM’s change in employment caused some complete and utter chaos for reasons. I’m being cagey because I don’t want to talk about it and the issue was a bit too personal for me to discuss in detail publicly with strangers over the Internet. And it’s fine. Everything is fine. Again. For the moment. And I just want to get back to work.

I’ve got articles forthcoming. An article on engaging NPCs will be up by the end of this week. A follow-up article on engaging PCs will be up next week that you can make your players not read. And the next article about either magic item crafting or adventure building will be up by the end of next week depending on which one I get to first.

Sorry about my sudden disappearance. Hope you’re all doing well. And thanks to all of you who reached out to check on me. Yeah, there’s been a lot of chaos lately. But it’s a chaotic time. And my life always seems to have a low-level chaos swirling about it.

Oh, and what if I did the monthly Angry Live Chat for my Patrons next week. Let’s say Tuesday. July 28. At 8:00 PM EDT. That sounds like a good plan.

  1. How am I supposed to have a parasocial relationship with you if you don’t share your private medical information?

      • Given the alleged penchant for chaos and the unstoppable Dr. Coxian charisma used in the thematic portrayal of this blog, I can entirely believe in multiple persons with restraining orders, suspension of disbelief is entirely intact.

That said, body-things happen, we’ll get over the F5 OCD while you recoup. Furthermore, it feels like the Tiny DM ought to have a blog and I assume I’ve just never stumbled across it. If their portfolio is anything like yours there should be at least three gems I haven’t encountered on other (clearly inferior) DMing blogs.

  2. Hope you and Tiny are doing well. Looking forward to *many* future articles and products from Angry Games in the coming years, so I have a long-term hope for things to come. Best wishes to you both.

  3. I’m glad you’re fine now – I hope it wasn’t anything too bad. I wish you both the best. Completely aside from well-wishes, as the only good source of GMing advice on the internet, you’re not allowed to die. My pretend elves depend on you!

  4. Good to hear! (That you are well, I mean. Yeah, the articles are nice and all but your health is more important.)

  5. I’m just glad you’re making it through all this. With how much is going on lately, I default to you just having too much on your plate over you being dead.

Then again, statistics say that you can only die once, therefor there’s naturally more posts reassuring a person is not dead and merely delayed, than posts were death is declared, but that’s just confirmation bias to my default.

  6. Not a single $, & or % in this post. How do we know it’s really you and not someone pretending to be you while you’re, you know, dead..

  7. Yeah, personal health issues can be rather annoying to deal with. Glad to hear you are doing better and hoping it stays stable/improves for a good long while.
