I’m here checking in because I promised greater transparency and because things are still a little off schedule as, doubtless, some of you have noticed. It seems worse than it is, but I’ve had to make some adjustments.

Illness and Tonight’s Stream

I’ve come down with some nasty flu-like symptoms that are beating the hell out of me. Tonight’s planned casual video game on YouTube isn’t going to happen and the holidays will prevent me from rescheduling even if I made a miraculous recovery tonight.

Next Monday’s stream is still on the schedule. Sorry about the inconvenience.

Narration Articles Coming in January

After spending a lot of time on two major articles about narration, I discovered that I need to do a bit more external research for one and that both would benefit from a totally different presentation. Because of what I want to accomplish with one of them — you’ll see — I’ve come to realize I need to package some actual audio recording examples with the articles, which I will also transcribe into the articles for those of you who don’t care for audio content. Since the topic is “improving extemporaneous speaking through practice and with a few helpful drills,” I can’t do my normal thing of just writing out my narration. It’d be disingenous.

That whole thing’s going to take longer than I wanted and ate up a bunch of time, but I want to put out the best articles I can, so I’ve decided to consider the time sunk cost and delay the articles until January.

Content to Close Out the Month

So with an illness bogging me down, the holidays, and my choice to put off articles that need more work, I’m obviously back to the same tight schedule I’ve been maintaining for the last several months, but I am still much better off than I was at the start of the month. My major goal of starting the new year on schedule and with a smoother workflow is still very much on target.

I intend to keep working quietly up to and beyond the holidays and get content to y’all to enjoy before the new year. I’ll do some topic shuffling to fill in the gaps. Even if it isn’t quite what I had planned, I’ll still be ending the year in a stable place to start fresh in January.

Proofreadalouds may be delayed due to my illness, but they will happen. They always do.

If I’m a little quiet online in the interim, don’t worry.
