The Angry June 2020 Update

June 4, 2020

Don’t worry, folks, this is just the normal, regularly scheduled monthly update. This isn’t the update where I can cancel articles or events and tell you in vague terms that some new disaster has struck Angry Games HQ or anything like that. It’s just a catch up.

But my whole computer did crap out and I had to reinstall the operating system and everything in it from scratch. But, meh, things happen.

Anyway, update time. Let’s go:

Angry’s Health and Well-Being

I’m fine. Thanks.

Upcoming Content

So, I’ve now got two popular projects running that people want more content from. Not only that, I was reminded of a third popular project people want more content from as well. And meanwhile, I have an issue I feel like I have to address based on a huge amount of feedback I’ve received. I’m also putting a lot of time in on that module I was supposed to publish to accompany my book because that has to get done and I’m sorry I f$&%ed that up.

So, this month is going to be scattershot. I’m going to hit four different topics.

First, I’m going to tackle the heavy issue of growing as a GM in response to a lot of feedback – positive and negative – I’ve received. Patrons will be able to read it on Monday, June 8 and the rest of the world will see it on Wednesday, June 10.

Second, I’m going to continue the AngryCraft series with an article and supplemental video. That’ll hit for Patrons on Monday, June 15 and for the GP on Wednesday, June 17.

Third, I’ve got to continue the Adventure Design thing. That’ll be on Monday, June 22 for Patrons and be generally available on Wednesday, June 24.

Fourth, I’ve been reminded by several people that I promised more articles about creating engaging NPCs. So I’ll jump back in on that topic on Monday, June 29 for Patrons and Wednesday, July 1 for everyone else.

And because I’ve now got three different ongoing projects happening, one on running good NPCs, one on building adventures, and one on building a crafting system, it occurs to me that something is going to have to change.

More Angry?

Starting in July – once I clear the module project off my plate – I’m going to experiment with putting out two extra articles a month. I will put out major content articles every Monday for Patrons and Wednesday for everyone else, but I will also float two other articles into the schedule to keep moving those projects forward regularly. Patrons who are supporting me on a per-article basis won’t get charged for the extra articles. Only four articles a month will be paid content. The two extras will be bonus articles. We’ll see how that works out. I think that I can maintain that kind of schedule now. And that may pave the way for continuing other projects in the future. But I am going to stop STARTING new projects for a little while and get ahead on some of this stuff. I have at least three topics I’d like to cover before I consider “engaging NPCs” done and I obviously have to write a complete adventure to consider the adventure building series done.

Either way, we’ll see how it goes. I’m making this s$&% up as I go along anyway.

Angry, Save My Map!

The “Angry, Save My Map” contest is officially over as of today. I will announce the winners of the fabulous prizes on Tuesday, June 9 and get prizes distributed next week. Thanks to everyone for voting. And thanks, especially, to everyone who entered. In some sense, you’re all winners. But in another, more correct sense, only two of you are winners. And they’ll find out who they are next week.

Live Streams, Games, and S$&%

As a reminder, Patrons with Discord access are invited to play some Jackbox Party Pack next Tuesday, June 9 at 8:00 PM EDT.

The Angry Live Chat for July will the following Tuesday, June 16, at 8:00 PM EDT. It will be recorded for posterity.

I am going to make sure I do at least one more live chat or event this month, but I don’t know when it’ll be yet. There’s some schedule changes that have to be ironed out in the Tiny-Angry Household this month and we’re waiting for answers on some things.

Other Stuff

There is no other stuff. I’m just going to get to work now.

Oh, wait, there is other stuff. I quit Twitter. F$&% Twitter. If you’re wondering why you’re not seeing Twitter updates when things post anymore, that’s why. You’re just going to have to check my site or do that RSS thing. Sorry.

  1. I agree with your opinion of Twitter. Glad you’re feeling well. Definitely looking forward to more of the projects you’ve mentioned. 😀

Also, I’m thinking it’s time I become a patron. You’re the first creator I’ll actually be supporting on Patreon. Your s#!% is just that good.

    Godspeed Angry!

    • Yeah! Twitter is a good idea gone horribly bad, and I’d advise selling yer shares now before the gov’t regulates them as the common carrier they are. I gave up two years ago, spitting into the wind.

  2. I’m glad you’re doing well. I’m looking forward to all of that. I’d still love to see the megadungeon come back, but I absolutely understand the huge amount of work you must be putting in to keep up with the currently active projects. I, too, have far too may projects going on at any one time.

  3. That sounds like a lot of different things to work on, which is hard in itself.

On a broader note, I quite like these updates. To the point but also a reminder of what’s going on.

  4. First, I’m glad you’re doing ok, especially after the rough times that’s you’ve faced from last year to last month

Second, no Megadungeon updates? It’s the project dead? It would be nice to know

    • I’m obviously not Angry or an affiliate and have no actual clue what’s been going on behind the scenes, but seeing as how the most recent megadungeon post was summer 2018 I think it’s fairly safe to assume it’s dead.

      • Angry did a get stuff done update a little bit back where he said he was restarting the megadungeon. Haven’t heard anything on that front since though.

    • I think Angry said he’d try and finish it last year, and if he couldn’t he’d call it then. The next step was lots of work where there wouldn’t be much to talk about. It’d be nice, but it’d take a lot of work for how nice it would be.

Speaking of a lot of work, woo-hoo! Thanks Angry, if this works! I’m certainly willing to up my pledge if this works!

      • I thought that was included in “And that may pave the way for continuing other projects in the future,” but I could be wrong. I hope it’s not dead, but honestly, there’s plenty there to learn from already. I’m planning on finishing it out myself to play in Talespire with some friends, hopefully this year.

  5. Good on you for getting rid of Twitter (not that you need anyone’s approval).

Question: I want to give you some money but I don’t want to sign up for Patreon. Is there a way to do that other than buying your book (which I’ve already done)?

DTRPG may let me buy it twice, but I already gave them money, which is cool, and I’m sure some went to the payment processing people, which is also okay, I guess (but how much is kind of aggravating, given what I know about the state of payment processing). But I have some issues with the Patreon people getting some of my money (and also my data), probably for reasons not unlike those you have for no longer giving Twitter your “twits” (or whatever). In any event, what I’m trying to say is that all the other parties involved in my purchasing your book seem adequately taken care of from my perspective, and that’s great. But what’s the best way to sen more your way without involving Patreon?
