The sucky thing about working from home is that blizzard conditions don’t close my workplace. Not unless I open all the windows and let the snow accumulate in the hallway to my office, and I don’t think Biscuit would like that. Neither would the landlord.
I shouldn’t complain, though. I’m safe, I’m comfortable, and I have the luxury of hiding from the storm. I know some of you can’t say the same. I’m praying each and every one of you affected by the weather is currently safe and healthy, as are all your loved ones. Stay safe people.
Anyway…
I’m trying to get into the habits of doing more regular check-ins just to let y’all know what’s going on and what I’m working on every week. Or every two weeks. Whatever. It keeps me more accountable and it helps rebuild the trust I’ve lost with some of y’all.
Lots of stuff today, but I’ll put a summary at the end for those who want to skip all the words.
First, I am keeping up on the weekly content releases, though hitting Wednesday with the Early Access is a little tricky still. My workflow and routine are coming back together. I’m also looking, behind the scenes, at the release days and making some adjustments. Ultimately, I’d like for my paid supporters to know what day the new Early Access article is coming out and always post it to the same page so you can just bookmark that. No need to bother with feeds on various platforms or e-mails. I’ll get there.
Speaking of content, I’m going to focus on an easy Feature this week. The Narration article last week took a lot more work than I anticipated, though I think it was worth it, and I need extra time for the next Let’s Build a Good Enough Dungeon article. Bargaining and Bribing will probably end up in the April queue.
Speaking of e-mails, some users are reporting issues with TheAngryGM.com not feeding them e-mail notifications. I’m aware of the issue and will get it working as soon as I’m able. I resolved a similar issue on Club Slapdash two weeks ago and I suspect it’s a similar fix, but it is going to be a little time-consuming.
Speaking of Club Slapdash, Frienemy supporters active on The Angry Discord have noticed an uptick in one-off discussions and weird random reveals in the #club-slapdash channel. Project Slapdash is getting reorganized and revived. I will be putting out more organized, regular insights and design blogs on Club Slapdash soon, but I think the best move right now is to host a Slapdash Live Chat — with a recording posted to Club Slapdash — to talk about what’s actually going on and what my plans currently look like. Let’s say next Monday, March 23, at 8:30 PM ET for an hour. It’ll probably be more scripted than not, but I’ll open up a thread for questions and topic proposals. I can’t promise I’ll get to them all; I might not even touch them. We’ll see.
Speaking of Frienemy supporters, I am still working on the first piece of my new line of bonus content. A handy hack for wilderness encounters that’ll help you determine contact ranges and provide the right information for your players. It is coming. I’m actually upgrading my tools for doing this kind of crap so I can provide ongoing bonus content once or twice a month, which is what’s dragging right now.
Finally, some personal notes…
First, I’ve noticed an upsurge in crowdfunding support at Patreon and SubscribeStar this past month as well as one-time pledges of support at SubscribeStar, PayPal, and Square. I’ve also noticed some new purchases of my book in the Angry Games Shop. I want to thank you all for your generous spirit. Welcome new supporters and former lurkers. Your trust at a time when I’ve been at my lowest really means the world to me. Thank you to those of you re-upping or increasing your support. I can’t tell you how important your support is right now. I’ve noticed the surge and it warms my heart. As do all the well-wishes and words of encouragement.
Second, I am clawing myself out of a very dark place, and it’s thanks mainly to all of you that I’ve been able to do that. I’ve unfortunately been neglecting my physical health while I struggled with my mental health. I know some of you have been in the same boat. In the past, especially after a terrible hospitalization ten years ago, I shared my health journey and encouraged you to come along with me. Over the past six months, I’ve had a few false starts and tried to revive the #health-and-fitness club in the The Angry Discord and I started a Habitica party that has been doing very well even though I fell off hard. I don’t know how this is going look yet, but I am planning to do the same again. It would be a shame to have a stroke or put myself in a diabetic coma before Slapdash is done. So if you’ve been thinking you need to take some control of your lifestyle, start thinking about what that might entail so we can work together to turn things around and live long, happy lives for our players, families, and loved ones.
Third, just for my own personal fun, I’m going to start streaming video games on my YouTube channel on Sunday evenings at 7:00 PM ET for two hours or so. I had just started doing so when I lost the end of my finger to an accident, took a hiatus, and never got back to it. Join me this week for Casual, Critical, Crappy gameplay. I guess I should probably do Silksong, right? We’ll see.
Fourth and finally, I will be a little incommunicado this week. If I’m less active on the Discords and platforms, don’t worry. I’m taking care of a lot of things I’ve been neglecting this week. Car service, doctor, veterinary appointment, crap like that. I’ll be working quietly in the background and the in-betweens.
All right, enough crap. Now for that summary I promised you.
- Short, simple article coming by the end of the week for Early Access.
- General Access articles still flowing out one or two a week to catch up.
- E-mail notifications on site failing for some users. Working on it. Give me time.
- Slapdash ramping up. More to come.
- Slapchat on Monday, March 23, 2026 at 8:30 PM ET on The Angry Discord #club-slapdash channel
- Bonus wilderness tracker for Frienemies is not forgotten. It’s being actively worked on as is the pipeline for future bonus content.
- Thank you for the generous uptick in support. It is helping immensely.
- Video game streaming on Sunday nights, starting March 22, at 7:00 PM ET purely for my own fun.
- I’ll be out of touch for a week taking care of adulting while also working on content.
