Angry Rants: Explaining RPGs

Do you want to reduce a role-player to paroxysms of babbling incomprehensibility? Of course you do. It’s fun. Here’s how. Go to a convention that has role-playing games. Find someone with D&D books or a character sheet or something. And say hello. Pretend you are not a gamer. Say you are there to do the animes or whatever it is non-gamers do at these things. And then look at the thing they are holding and say, “Oh, D&D? I’ve heard of that, but I have no idea what it is. How does it work?” And then observe. Because, on the whole, role-playing gamers absolutely SUCK at explaining role-playing games…
